About Us
The Cooperative of Family Farmers of the Amazon (Lacoop Brasil) brings together families producing coffees of the canephora species in Rondônia, a state that concentrates the largest coffee production in the Brazilian Amazon. Since its foundation in 2017, Lacoop is developing the quality and productivity of the beans of Amazonia Robustas, grown in small family properties in the region for more than 40 years.
Lacoop seeks to develop beans that are resistant to pests and diseases, productive, and with unique sensory characteristics. There is also special attention to management practices that make the crop more productive, viable and sustainable. All this without leaving aside the environmental preservation of Amazonian vegetation and natural resources and the quality of life of the families of the associates – an effort that guaranteed FLO Fairtrade certification in 2020.
The beans of Amazonia Robustas have a rich sensory palette, with characteristics such as striking and pleasant body, acidity and balanced sweetness. The flavors and aromas have notes of chocolate, chestnut and caramel. Such qualities have been conquering demanding markets, such as South Korea and Spain – for which Lacoop made the first sales in 2020.
